Scripts & Recording

SocialGPT can turn any hook into a ready-to-record video script — with timing cues, segments, and a built-in teleprompter so you can film without memorizing anything.

Generating a script

From any hook on the Ideas page, tap Generate Script. You'll be taken to the script page where you can pick your video duration.

Choosing a duration

SocialGPT offers preset durations: 15s, 30s, 45s, 60s, 90s, and 120s. The default is 30 seconds, which works well for most TikTok and Reels content.

The AI adjusts the script length and pacing to fit your chosen duration. Shorter videos get punchier hooks; longer ones get more room for storytelling.

How generation works

Once you pick a duration, SocialGPT streams the script to your screen in real time — you'll see it appear word by word. This usually takes about 20 to 30 seconds.

The finished script is broken into timed segments. Each segment shows a time range (like "0:00 – 0:05") and the lines you should deliver in that window.

Editing your script

You can tap on any part of the script to edit the text directly. Changes are saved automatically. This is great for:

  • Tweaking wording to match your voice
  • Adding personal stories or examples
  • Shortening or expanding sections

If you want a completely different take, hit Regenerate to start fresh. You'll see a confirmation first so you don't lose your current version by accident.

Tip

Don't worry about getting the script perfect. The best-performing content usually feels natural and conversational. Use the script as a guide, not a word-for-word teleprompter.

Recording with the teleprompter

When your script is ready, tap Record with Teleprompter. This opens a recording interface that shows your script segments one at a time in large, easy-to-read text.

How the teleprompter works

  • Each script segment is displayed with its time range, so you know how long to spend on each part.
  • A progress bar shows where you are in the recording.
  • You control when to start and stop recording.

After recording

Once you stop recording, you can play back the video to review it. If you're not happy, just hit Retake and try again. When you're satisfied, you can upload the video as a draft.

Tips for great recordings

  • Good lighting matters more than a good camera. Face a window or use a ring light.
  • Look at the camera, not the screen. Position the teleprompter text near your camera lens so it looks natural.
  • Energy in the first 2 seconds. The hook is everything. Start strong.
  • It's okay to do multiple takes. Even pro creators rarely nail it on the first try.
